2021 Summer Internship
During the summer of 2021, I completed the required internship for my degree under Jennifer Rapp, owner and lead designer at JCR Design Group in St. Louis, Missouri. Through her help and guidance, I was able to advance my design abilities and gain further knowledge on what it is like to work in the field.
While working at JCR, I was quickly thrown into many different projects and was trusted with many different tasks such as picking out furniture, fixtures, and fabric options for clients to choose from and creating digital inspiration boards. I often spent the day visiting project locations and going to different showrooms and retailers to get products for clients. I also took measurements of many spaces we were working on and used them to create various plans on AutoCAD such as furniture plans, electrical plans, and elevations. Because I had access to Revit on my personal laptop, I was also able to provide renderings of the different spaces to review with the client.
Other responsibilities I took on during the internship includes reaching out to different sales representatives and ordering CFAs for clients. On occasion, I would also go to the project location to help oversee installation of different products. Some of the projects I oversaw included hanging artwork, placing furniture to plans, and adding whitewash to the brick fireplace of one client's house.
